Have fun jumping in Long Island Sound in support of our student athletes!

It's that time again to pull out your bathing suits and start warming them up.  On Sunday February 26, 2023, the Westbrook Athletic Boosters are hosting our 2nd "Freezin for the Season" plunge into Long Island Sound. Last year was a huge success with over 300 people coming to West Beach in Westbrook to watch upwards of 70 brave souls hit the 30 something degree waters. I think many people who decided not to plunge last year may have seen how fun it was, and will hopefully decide to cross a plunge off their bucket list.

In 2022, we ended up raising over $7000 for the student-athletes of Westbrook CT.  This year, we are hoping to exceed that number by reaching out to local businesses at a more personal level and adding prizes for top participant fundraisers.

Registration is $25 per plunger. Our hopes are that each plunger gets donations from friends, co-workers, and family members for the sacrifice they are making.  There will also be prizes awarded to the top fundraisers.  The plunge will happen at approx. 2:00 PM but the event starts at 12:00 PM so come down early and enjoy our company.  Many volunteers will be setting up warming tents, music, coffee (Julies Cup of Joe), hot chocolate (Dunkin Donuts), firepit (with FREE S'mores provided by Edd's place), corn hole, a changing tent and many other things needed to make the day a success and most of all enjoyable to everyone there to watch or plunge. Food this year is being provided by our own local Turtle Cafe!

There will also be a booth for Best Rates Insurance from Westbrook.  The booth will be handing out candy AND have  FREE RAFFLE  for the following:

Safety wise, we will be fully covered like last year.  Our Westbrook Fire Department will have divers in the water and others on land. There will be an ambulance on-site as well as police for traffic and any other matters.  This is ALL VOLUNTEER and the Boosters thanks them immensely.
